iPhones don’t like water

October 21, 2013 at 12:16 pm

Anyone who’s had the unfortunate event of dropping their iPhone or other smart phone into water can probably tell you, electronic devices don’t like water. Well, let me tell you about our little event, and the temptation we faced and almost fell into. Let me start out by first identifying the cute criminal: Crime: Tossing a nearly new iPhone 5 into the toilet. It’s been a few weeks now, but we went up to Fort Caswell, NC. We had a blast, even with the tossed iPhone, we still had a great time. Anyway, we were out and about one morning, and after […]

It’s ok to say no

September 26, 2013 at 3:11 pm

I had a dentist appointment a couple of weeks ago, and something happened that caused me to think about how sometimes it’s ok to just say no. As you can probably tell, we’re conducting warfare against debt. I’m angry, and done with being a slave to debt. As a result, my wife and I implemented a serious budget, and we’re sticking to it. If you’re angry, I know how you feel, because that is where I am at. For most people, part of the problem is due to it being out of sight and out of mind. We don’t […]

Boost Your Income

August 12, 2013 at 6:11 pm

If you’re looking to become a Stay at Home Parent, or just want to live a little more frugally, here are some tips and things I’ve done to boost my income. It’s worth noting however, that it’s much easier to lower your expenses, than it is to boost your income. 1. Sell your crap Sorry, I don’t mean for that to sound rude, although it kind of does. My wife and I, over the past several weeks have been evaluating the various items we have around the house, and if we haven’t been using it, it has to go. If it […]

Cut the cable/satellite cord…

August 3, 2013 at 4:32 pm

Seriously. It’s time to cut that cable/satellite out of your expenses. No, don’t physically cut the cable, you’ll need that later :-). When my wife was preparing to become a stay at home mom, we were looking at things we could cut down or get rid of entirely. We had a package with Dish Network. It was a single satellite receiver, it worked in two rooms, DVR, had all kinds of good channels, it was super slick, and $80 a month. Ouch. That hurts me now just thinking of how much we paid for that month after month, and I know Dish Network […]
